Kirby got into chuckwagons in the late 1980’s when he outrode for a few years. In 1996 he decided to try driving and was very successful winning the Rookie of the Driver award. Since 1996 Kirby has drove on and off but even if he wasn’t in the wagon box his love for the sport saw him traveling down the road with his cousin Ervin Quinney to help. Kirby lists Ervin as his greatest influence, Ervin helped him find his love for horses and wagons. Kirby’s son Curtis is the unsung hero in his barn along with his biggest help and he couldn’t go down the road without him. 2019 saw Kirby having an impressive season with 3 top 5 runs, 7 top 10 runs and 16 top 15 runs. He finished in the top 10 at 3 of the CPCA tour stops and in the top 15 at 5 shows. Kirby’s hard work and driving skill showed in 2018 as he received the prestigious Bruce Bremner award for the most consistent barreling outfit and continued into 2019. Kirby’s goal in 2020 is to run hard and stay penalty free.
