2021 Won Meadow Lake Show
2021 Top 4 at Frog Lake Show

Like a few others, although Preston was new to the CPCA, he wasn’t new to the sport. Preston drove chariots for 7 years and pony wagons for 3 years. Preston got into horses through his family as he grew up around the track with them as they raced. Preston loves wagon racing like most guys because of the horses. He enjoys taking care of them day in and day out, he also enjoys meeting new people and travelling. Preston finished the 2021 CPCA season in 9th place, won the Meadow Lake show, and placed in the top 4 at the Frog Lake show. Preston’s goal for 2022 is to have a safe and successful season and to continue his rise in the standings.

Favourite Meal: Steak and king crab from The Keg Steakhouse.

What is on your iPod right now: A little bit of everything!

Favourite Vacation Spot: The mountains in southern Alberta.

How did you get into Chuckwagon Racing: I grew up around the race track. My family raced ponies for many years, so naturally when I was of age I picked it up myself. I raced chariots for 7 years and pony wagons for 3 years.

Most Memorable Chuckwagon Racing Moment: I like the big crowds racing at the Grand Prairie Stampede and the Ponoka Stampede.  I raced wagons in Texas and Colorado one winter. But definitely winning my first show as a wagon driver was my favourite moment. That takes the cake.

Favourite thing about Chuckwagon Racing: I’d have to say the horses, caring for them and being with them day in and day out. Also, traveling and meeting new people.

Biggest Influence in the Sport: I would have to say my family. They always help me and support me to be the best that I can be.

What do you do for work and in the offseason: I’m a journeyman plumber and gas fitter in the off season. I manage my family company PKP Mechanical.
